Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Vadakkunnathan Temple is located in the beautiful town of Thrissur. The temple is also known as Thenkailasam and Vrishabhachalam and is one of the largest and ancient Shiva temples in the state. Located behind the Shiva’s shrine is the shrine of goddess Parvati. Guruvayur Shri Krishna Temple is one of the highly revered pilgrimage sites of South India. The temple is located in Guruvayur town in Thrissur district of Kerala. Ram Janmabhoomi refers to a tract of land in the North Indian city of Ayodhya which is believed to be the birthplace of the Rama. Prior to 1528, a famous and important temple stood at this site.
In 1528, the temple was demolished on the orders of Mughal invader Babar and a mosque was built on its ruins. This mosque came to be known as the Babri Masjid.
